Dave East released Book of David, a 17-song album hosted by DJ Drama, back in November 2022. For many of the tracks, Buda & Grandz were in charge of the production, while fans have also enjoyed visuals for “Seen A Lot,” “No Promo,” and “Through The Fire.”
Harlem rapper Dave East Comeback Kid dropped his latest follow-up to his previous album on Sunday, the track is titled “Above Water.” His latest offering features a masterfully layered beat by Westtopher which serves as the perfect foundation for East’s emotional bars. During the song, he talks about the humble beginnings that led him to find motivation, as well as the ways he found inspiration:
In the years prior to the release of Book of David, the “Said What I Said” rap artist Dave East released HDIGH (or How Did I Get Here?). A number of artists appeared on that project, including: Steven Young, Method Man, Anthony Hamilton, Musiq Soulchild, Benny The Butcher, as well as many others over the course of nine tracks. Then, several months after the album’s initial release, he would return to the project in order to present its official deluxe upgrade, which would expand the album to 13 songs in total and add on features from Lyrivelli,Peedi Crakk, and others.
Besides releasing his own material, East has also been heard dropping guest verses on a variety of tracks recently, including “Up It” with Sns and Jim Jones, “Blood in the Sky” with Millyz, “NY Is Killing Me” with Nems, and more.
