It is with great pleasure to announce that Coi Leray has unveiled her sophomore LP, COI on June 23. The LP features 16 tracks and collaborations with Saucy Santana, Lola Brooke, Giggs, James Brown, and Skillibeng. As a result of Johnny Goldstein’s involvement in the album’s production as well as the collaboration with London On Da Track, David Guetta, TBHITS,Cubeatz, and others in the process, the album was produced in entirety.
During an interview with Apple Music contributor Ebro Darden, the New Jersey-based artist explained why she decided to use her name for the title of her album. “ Even if I self-title it COI, it still feels like I want people to understand everything about me, including all the things that are just about me,” she explained. Usually, people call me Coi at home; Coi Leray is the brand name I use for myself. The thing I would like to express to you is that, if you happen to be my mom, or anyone else here in the room, I would like you to call me Coi, as it is a very personal thing.”
As well as discussing working with Goldstein and Guetta, both of whom are well known within the pop landscape as a result of their major contributions, Coi Leray also opened up about meeting him. “There are a lot of kids who don’t even know that [Guetta] is probably one of the first EDM DJs who actually combined EDM with hip hop and are credited for bringing the two genres together,” the XXL Freshman alum stated. “David and I are in the studio now, and he is giving me his full attention. As for Johnny, I have him. I’ve seen them with their laptops open…It’s like a party in there. David Guetta, I think he really believes in me so much.”|
In the following years, the COI has followed up upon the Trendsetter album of 2022, which featured 20 cuts and assistance from the likes of Yung Bleu, Nicki Minaj, Fivio Foreign, H.E.R., A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Polo G, and Lil Durk, the latter of whom collaborated with Leray on the platinum reissue of the classic hit “No More Parties.” Throughout this period, she has released “The One” with James Blake, “Fly Sh!t,” “One Wish (Freestyle),” “Involved,” and “Wasted.” Leray could also be heard on tracks by DDG, Dreezy, 42 Dugg, B-Lovee, Calvin Harris, and RAYE.
