It seems the music realm is buzzing with rumors of a potential conflict between global hip-hop sensation, Drake, and the renowned record producer, Metro Boomin. Despite their deep-rooted history of collaborations and mutual success, these speculations have been rife in recent weeks. This article aims to unravel the mystery and provide an in-depth view of what’s transpiring between these two music industry giants.
In 2017, Drake and Metro Boomin embarked on a musical journey together. Metro enlisted Drake’s talents for his single, “No Complaints,” which served as a prelude to his album, “Not All Heroes Wear Capes“. This was followed by Drake’s appearance on “Mr. Right Now,” a track from Metro and 21 Savage’s project, “Savage Mode II“.
The duo’s joint venture did not stop there. They teamed up in 2015 for a joint album titled “What a Time to Be Alive,” where Metro Boomin took the helm as the executive producer. Their extensive collaboration history is a testament to their creative chemistry, which has resulted in several chart-topping hits.
The origin of the current rumors traces back to the competition between Drake and 21’s album “Her Loss” and Metro’s “Heroes & Villains“. Both albums are contenders for the Best Rap Album at the 2024 Grammys. The speculation amplified when Metro expressed his disdain for award shows in a tweet, citing “Her Loss” victories over his own album as evidence of the politicized nature of these events.
“Yet her loss still keeps winning rap album of the year over H&V. proof that award shows are just politics and not for me,” Metro said at the time. “Idc about awards honestly, the true award and REWARD is knowing that the music I spend so much time on brings joy to peoples everyday lives.”
While there were no definitive signs pointing towards a feud, the speculation gained momentum when Drake mentioned “tweet-and-deleters” during a statement on Kick.
“And to the rest of you,” Drake said during a livestream, “The non-believers, the underachievers, the tweet-and-deleters, you guys make me sick to my stomach, fam.”
Many fans interpreted this as a possible allusion to Metro’s tweet about the award shows.
Further stirring the pot, Drake posted an update on his Instagram Stories, quoting the outro to his track “Keep the Family Close“. The line “So anybody who want it can get it” was perceived by some fans as a subtle jab at Metro.
In response to Drake’s “tweet-and-deleters” remark, Metro shared an RDCWorld skit on his social media. The timing and context led fans to link this action to the rumored feud between the two.
In a world where every action and inaction is scrutinized, it’s crucial to remember that all these are mere speculations. The fans and the music industry are waiting with bated breath for any concrete signs of a brewing conflict or a resolution. Until then, the speculation continues.
