The Maryland emcee Logic will debut his new album College Park next month, a 17-track collection led by Lucy Rose’s “Wake Up.” After releasing a video yesterday (Jan. 23), the Maryland rapper is making a fuss with it by freestyling inside his $325,000 Mercedes-Maybach sedan, which he is driving on his car-riding trip. Logic, who is accompanied by a powerful beat from 6ix, is heard rapping about his past life and his well-known abilities in the art of writing lyrics:
It is the first official release from Logic since he parted ways with Def Jam Records following the release of In the Beginning. The latest project he’s been working on under that label, Vinyl Days, recently made its way to the public. It features 30 songs and appearances from people like Action Bronson, Blu, Curren$y, Russ, Wiz Khalifa, Royce da 5’9″, The Game, RZA, DJ Premier, and more. It has been a while since he released his first instrumental recording, PEANUTS, which demonstrated his ability as a producer.
An interview with NPR revealed that Logic had become an independent artist and what his future plans were musically:
“Instead of accumulating the financial stability that I currently enjoy, I would prefer to turn around, develop my own music that is perhaps not as popular and take a ‘dive’ in my career so that It is possible for me to exit a stage happy and proud of myself for what I have achieved. In fact, in terms of what I stand for, I would rather have people hate me for who I am rather than with them love me for who I am not.”
