The rapper Lil Tjay announced today that he will release his next album 222 on July 14, a day after his previous release of 221. Moreover, he also revealed a brand new song from the forthcoming project called “June 22nd.” The music video for the song is titled after the June 22nd of 2022, the date when the Bronx talent Lil Tjay was shot multiple times during an attempt on his life. Taking this into account, the song has been produced by Itamar, EMRLD BEATS, A Lau, and Drü Oliver and lets him reflect on the incident and the moments which led up to it.
“June 22nd” takes the song’s loose reenactment to a whole new level of life through its accompanying visual, which is directed by Dell and brings the song’s loose reenactment to life, similar to how 50 Cent did for the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ track entitled “Many Men (Wish Death).” The video begins with Lil Tjay being carried to the hospital before rewinding back to the beginning. Throughout the documentary, viewers will follow the rapper’s journey from meeting Ice Spice (or an actress portraying her) in the studio, riding through the streets of New Jersey, and departing from a hotel to meet his end. In a message at the end, the story is promised to continue in another clip.
