The rapper BIA is back with a brand new single that he titled “SIXTEEN,” a song that is produced by AzizTheShake and Tim Nihan. The song aims to reference the rapper’s upbringing and his current focus on preserving wealth.
The release of “SIXTEEN” comes just about a year after the release of J.Cole-backed “LONDON.” It is expected that both songs will appear on BIA’s long-awaited debut album Full Circle, which will be produced by a number of different producers.
It comes after releasing both 2018’s Nice Girls Finish Last: Cuidado and #CholaSeason in 2014, it comes as no surprise that “Sisterhood of Hip Hop” alum Lykke Li breaks through the proverbial mold with 2020’s For Certain, an eight-song effort with assistance from Lil Durk, Doe Boy, Lil Jon, and 42 Dugg. For Certain made its debut the following year, and along with the release of the deluxe edition, six additional tracks and collaborations were released with G Herbo, Nicki Minaj, and Sevyn Streeter. In Billboard’s list of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums for the month of November, the project peaked within the top 40.
It was during a recent interview that BIA talked about the reason she decided to sign with Epic Records after leaving RCA Music.
“I’m a big fan of energy, and [Epic CEO Sylvia Rhone] is such an amazing woman,” stated the actress. “I would like to spend time with women. If I want to succeed in my career, I want to be around people that get me and do not try to change me, but rather strive to help me become the best version of myself. These are the people that begin to get to know you as a person, and not just as a musician or an artist.”
