With the release of “SWISH,” Vic Mensa delivers a new track featuring G-Eazy and Chance The Rapper, which was produced by BongoByTheWay and Johan Lenox. Clearly, the trio are all about living a boss lifestyle, as indicated by the chorus of the song.
Six years have passed since Vic Mensa released his debut album, The Autobiography, a 15-song collection featuring Chief Keef, Pusha T, The-Dream, Ty Dolla $ign, Pharrell Williams, and more. The Chicago emcee has since dropped several EPs and an alternative album with his collective including Hooligans,There’s Alot Going On, 93Punx, and Vino Valentino.
Apart from music, Vic Mensa also advocates for social and political reforms in the United States, especially in the area of marginalized groups, as part of his advocacy for the rights of marginalized people. During a previous interview, he discussed his Illinois-based Books Before Bars initiative, which seeks to provide literary resources for prisoners.
“This is an area that is close to my heart, since I have been sending books to friends in jail and prison for many years now, and I have seen how much the bright books have meant to people in my life who are incarcerated,” he explained. “From experiences that I have had, I have seen firsthand how a small book at the right time can have a profound effect on a person facing a life sentence, transforming their entire frame of mind and allowing them to experience a sense of freedom within, even when the body is confined.”
