The official website of Russ is currently offering his EP for purchase. This new album is titled CHOMP 2.5, and it includes six songs and production from Boi-1da, 9th Wonder, The Alchemist, Havoc, and Statik Selektah. The Atlanta-based star also gave fans a sneak peek at a short clip from his upcoming single “Buckle Up Freestyle,” as well as a preview of his upcoming single “Perfectionist,” in which he takes an introspective turn.
The latest installment of the Chomp series was released in mid-June, following 2020’s CHOMP, which was a five-song offering with contributions from Benny The Butcher, Ab-Soul, Busta Rhymes, DJ Premier, KXNG Crooked, and Black Thought. Russ continued his momentum in a year’s time with CHOMP 2, a collection of 14 tracks in which he collaborated with artists including Conway The Machine, Snoop Dogg, Westside Gunn, Wale, Jay Electronica, Joey BADA$$, and more.
Russ recently spoke to me about what it was like to get into music during a previous interview.
“When I was growing up, music was always around me as my dad would sing and there was always music being played in my house. However, he wasn’t a musician, so I’ve always felt like I was influenced by it and I was raised around it,” he explained. “Unfortunately, he didn’t pass on to me that particular skill, but his father, my grandfather, taught me how to play guitar, which opened up a door into the whole music world for me.”
