Drake, the famed musician, has recently voiced his concerns about the present state of the media. He believes it’s leading to a discouraging environment for young people to discover their path. His criticism resonates with the youth, who are striving to carve out their identities amidst a sea of negativity.
Drake’s criticism was sparked by a 2014 press conference of Nick Saban, the retired head coach from the University of Alabama. Saban is known for his legendary contributions to college football and his belief in granting players second chances.
“A guy makes a mistake. Where do you want him to be?” Saban told reporters. “You want him to be in the street or do you want him to be here graduating?”
Sharing the clip on his Instagram, Drake expressed his views on the noise he deemed “calculated.” He criticized the media for profiting from negativity and hindering the journey of the youth.
“Journalistic world cashing out on negativity and discouraging the youth from finding their way more now than ever… the noise is all calculated keep pushing forward,” wrote Drake.
Saban’s press conference was in response to the criticism he faced for keeping Muhsin Muhammad, the former Carolina Panthers wide receiver, in his team despite a probation violation. Saban coached Muhammad during his tenure at Michigan State and believed in giving him a second chance.
Drake also referenced Mos Def’s 1999 song “Umi Says” in his Instagram post. He used the lyrics to further emphasize his message to the youth to keep pushing forward despite the negativity.
“What Umi say again? Lemme shine my light king, don’t change up now,” wrote Drake.
This incident brings to light the role of media in shaping public opinion. Drake’s criticism serves as a call for media to shift from focusing on negativity and instead, encourage growth and positivity.
In other music news, Drake and J. Cole’s much-anticipated tour, Big as the What? is set to kick off soon. Fans are eagerly waiting for the duo to create magic on stage.
Drake has always been vocal about issues affecting the youth. His music, often reflecting his own experiences and emotions, resonates with young individuals navigating through life. His recent criticism of the media further cements his position as a youth advocate.
Despite the negativity, Drake’s message to the youth is clear – keep pushing forward. His support for the youth and call for a change in the media landscape is a beacon of hope for many.
