Netflix, the leading global streaming platform, keeps pushing the boundaries with innovative and compelling programming. One of their latest offerings is The Vince Staples Show, a scripted comedy series which promises to be another notch in their stellar line-up.
On Wednesday, Netflix surprised fans with the unveiling of the trailer for The Vince Staples Show. This upcoming comedy series, first announced in September 2022, is a fictional narrative inspired by the life of Vince Staples, based in his hometown, Long Beach, California.
“I am thrilled to collaborate with Netflix and Kenya Barris on The Vince Staples Show. This project has been in the works for a while, and I am ecstatic to see it materialize.” – Vince Staples
The executive production team of The Vince Staples Show is comprised of several industry veterans. Staples and Barris joined forces with Ian Edelman, Maurice Williams, Corey Smyth, and Calmatic to bring this vision to life. Edelman and Williams, who acted as showrunners, have previously collaborated with Barris on the Netflix hit, Kid Cudi’s Entergalactic.
Longtime fans of Staples may recognize Calmatic’s name from a previous project: a short-form version of The Vince Staples Show on YouTube back in 2019. The mini-episode, directed by Calmatic, even featured an appearance by Ray J. Calmatic’s directorial portfolio includes other significant works such as Rap Sh!t, White Men Can’t Jump reboot with Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” video, and more.
The Vince Staples Show is all set to premiere on Netflix on February 15th. The satirical comedy spans five episodes, featuring a talented ensemble of Vanessa Bell Calloway, Andrea Ellsworth, Naté Jones, Arturo Castro, Scott MacArthur, Bryan Greenberg, and Myles Bullock.
