The PJ Morton Watch The Sun album, released last year, showcased PJ Morton ability to write and produce songs of his own, displaying his songwriting abilities and his production skills. During the course of the project, a wide range of talented performers were seen including the following: Wale, Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott, Gene Moore, Chronixx, JoJo, Alex Isley, Tim Rogers, Zacardi Cortez, Mr. Talkbox, Samoht, El DeBarge, and Darrel “MusiqCity” Walls.
A new live rendition of “Be Like Water” from the LP from the “Built For Love” singer aired yesterday (Feb. 1). During her appearance on “The Daily Show” and as part of her live performance, the singer surprised fans with a new version of the song live on stage. The performance features a special appearance from poet Amir Sulaiman as Morton delivers his soothing lyrics while displaying his abilities to play the piano at the same time:
“Be Like Water’ was a phrase I had heard at some point, but I don’t remember when I heard it,” he said in a press release regarding the song. “I remember when Bruce Lee made this famous, but it wasn’t until we were all shut down that I truly got to see how powerful it could be until it clicked with me. As he kept telling me, when we all pivot at once, we all pivot in our lives at the same time. After I finished writing it, I was only able to hear Nas’ voice through the headphones I was wearing. In my opinion, it was unbelievable for him to actually be able to get on it. As soon as I found out that Nas had always hoped that Stevie Wonder would be on the album and that he was willing to work with him, I was beyond my dreams”
In related news, PJ Morton will return to the Grammy Awards this weekend for a sixth consecutive year of nominations after winning four consecutive Grammy Awards upto 4 years till 2022 under the same management.
