Valee blessed the masses yesterday (Dec. 7) with the release of his new album, Vacabularee, a collection of 15 songs featuring KiltKarter, Na-Kel Smith, and Zelooperz. Say Cheezz, AYOCHILLMANNN, Stan Lane, GoyardSounds, and others contribute to the album’s distinctive production.
A creepy upbeat opener, “Desto Dubb,” which is full of boastful, off-kilter rhymes from the Chicago emcee, sets the tone for the rest of the project:
The release of Vacabularee follows the release of Gimme Five Im High last year, which was Valee’s collaborative project with longtime collaborator CHASETHEMONEY. This project included eight songs and was accompanied by appearances from Bricc Baby, Lil Stl, King Louie, and Lil Wop. In addition, in 2021, AYOCHILLMANNN also teamed up with “Womp Womp” rapper to record The TrAppiEst Disco Music Ever! and The TrAppiEst Elevator Music Ever!, featuring the likes of notable artists such as Ayoant, Z Money, and Casey The Icon.
A series of well-received mixtapes led to Valee becoming somewhat of an overnight sensation once he was signed by Pusha T to G.O.O.D. Music following a series of well-received mixtapes. From this period came one of the most successful projects of his career, the EP GOOD Job, You Found Me, as well as some loose tracks such as “About You” produced by DRAM, “Uninvited,”and “You & Me Both” and produced by Calboy, “Awesome” produced by Matt OX.
As part of an interview with Red Bull in the past, Valee explained how his music style is unique and what sets him apart from the competition:
“Before getting into the business of music, I was aware of the fact that I wanted to be different, so I thought about finding different ways to, like, change the flow of my music and I came up with the term voice-bending. Basically, that usually depends on the type of beat or production that I’m hearing at that particular time instead of the song itself.”
