GloRilla has already gotten back into the studio to begin work on the album that will be her sophomore album! It was obvious that the 23-year-old talented young singer was on to something with her first single, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” from GloRilla’s previous year debut album, Anyways, Life’s Great. There are 16 shows set to take place on her first headlining tour, which was launched in January of this year.
“On my new album, I have so many different vibes coming out of it. I would be glad to hear from you if there is anything in particular you would like me to include on it,” the singer tweeted early in the morning of Saturday (Feb. 25). By doing this, she is sending a strong signal to her fans that she will not take a long break before releasing a new project. As a response to her prompt, some people wrote, “A classic R&B hook, sis.”. Don’t forget to get involved with the girls! ” “It’s time to give people something they won’t expect from you 100 percent. There is no doubt that if you switch things up, you will definitely make more money,” “You could do a cypher with all Memphis rappers,” and “You don’t have to make a trap song with a gospel sample on it. I’d rather listen to your storytelling type song over the Memphis trap beat.”
Her breakthrough single from last year, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” not only propelled her into superstardom, but also earned her her first major achievement at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, where she was awarded the Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist Award. It is with great pleasure that we announce her first Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance in the new year. It is important to note that GloRilla still had a memorable night, despite the award ultimately going to Kendrick Lamar for “The Heart Part 5.”
As part of the celebration of hip hop’s 50th anniversary, GloRilla was part of a group of hip hop artists who performed a special medley of hits dating back to the 1982 classic banger from Grandmaster Flash called “Flash To The Beat.” It was clear that GloRilla was not only representing women in hip hop who continue to carry that torch forward, but also the new generation of rappers who are bringing it forward.
On Feb. 22, just three days ago, she teased her fans by tweeting, “Just recorded a hit,” without providing any additional information regarding what kind of hit she had recorded. In the future, we will only be able to tell if she plans to release new, unheard solo material or if she will appear as a featured artist on another artist’s song. Any way you look at it, she will have a loyal fan base eager to listen to her story.
A few weeks ago, Glo revealed that both Chief Keef and Beyoncé are two of her dream collaborators and she can’t wait to work with them. The CMG artists have already collaborated with the artists from other labels on tracks such as Latto’s “FTCU,” Moneybagg Yo’s “On Wat U On,” and Cardi B’s “Tomorrow 2,” a catchy track that features the late Gangsta Boo, as well as other tracks.
