In an effort to break new ground, MoStack made a big return to wax on Thursday (Feb. 23) with “The Weekend,” a Lotus JXJO and Rxwntre produced track that plays in a similar style to his well-known street-yet-celebratory style, full of the sort of sounds and vibes that make him so popular in the UK.
It is the accompanying clip for the artist’s track “The Weekend” that gives viewers a sense of his Hornsey home turf, which was shot by Wowa and edited by MoStack himself. The video shows him mobbing with his crew at various locations and enjoying some quality time with his love interest throughout the entire clip.
After releasing a critically acclaimed mixtape in 2021, MoStack surprised the world sometime later with High Street Kid 2, which is a 14-track joyride that serves as the sequel to the critically acclaimed mixtape that he released three years earlier. As a result of its success, the project, which included appearances from such artists as Aitch, MIST, Phoenix Laoutaris, JustPapers, and J Tehng, ranked among the top 40 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart within just one week following its release. He appeared to have been gradually moving toward the development of a new body of work through loose cuts such as “Can’t Forgive” and “Fake Fake Fake.” He won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance in January for his performance on Clavish’s Rap Game Awful hit “Can’t Style Me,” which was a big highlight on Clavish’s album Rap Game Awful.
Since almost a decade ago, MoStack has created hit records that combine a hard-hitting braggadocio with clever (and often hilarious) lines to produce a great listening experience for all types of events and functions. The songs he has sung have always been able to keep council estates and nightclubs at maximum capacity thanks to the songs such as “Miss Me” with AJ Tracey and “What I Wanna,” “Shine Girl” “Liar Liar,” with Stormzy. The warmer weather is about to arrive and I expect we will be able to enjoy a few more jams in the coming months, which is a good sign for a successful summer.
