Video of “Cheating Freestyle” by Jay Critch

On the same day that Jay Critch announced that he would not release a new album this year, he dropped his final single, “Cheating (Freestyle).” And today, the New York native is back with the music video that accompanies the single, directed by Rich Porter. The video gives fans a glimpse into Jay Critch’s high-rolling lifestyle in NYC, which represents the contrast of the overcrowded metropolis. Throughout the track, he performs raps over a beat that has been produced by Rambow and Chulo, as follows:

It was 2021 when the rapper Jay Critch, formerly known as “Dreams In A Wraith,” released his last project, Critch Tape, which included 23 songs and features from artists like Lil Tjay, Fivio Foreign, and Drakeo The Ruler. His fans have steadily been kept happy throughout the years with plenty of offerings such as “Gifted,” and “Click It,” “Spin No Blocks,” “Deadline” “Stamped,” that features Prince Swanny, in addition to one he collaborated with Harry Fraud entitled “Born With It.”

The 24-year-old rapper, who appeared on a recent episode of the 106 & Park show, recently talked about what makes New York rap unique. “For me, what defines New York Rap is being able to talk about the real stuff, telling you what’s going on outside, and doing it in a swagger way, and making it sound right, we making it sound right even when we’re talking about the craziest stuff, and when we’re talking about what’s going on out here. “But doing it in style, that’s what I think of as New York rap.” he continued.
