The beginning of December of 2022 marked the first time Ab-Soul had released his fifth studio album, Herbert, a collection of 18 songs which featured additional features from the likes of Lance Skiiiwalker, Big Sean, Jhené Aiko, SiR, Joey BADA$$, Russ, and more. He’s back in the spotlight today (March 21) with the release of a new video from that same project that he produced with DJ Premier, titled “Gotta Rap.” The song sees the Carson emcee opening up about mental health, his career, as well as personal struggles.

The visuals of “Gotta Rap” are directed by Cordell Jomha and show Ab-Soul in his element as she delivers her bars in different locations throughout her hometown, which makes up her hometown of Los Angeles. This video shows the TDE emcee standing on the rooftop of a shopping center while hanging with his crew and rapping in the background.

Back in 2016, Ab-Soul released its highly acclaimed album Do What Thou Wilt. On the album, plus 16 tracks, there were collaborations with some of the most talented artists and producers of today, such as Rapsody, SZA, Bas, Teedra Moses, ScHoolboy Q, along with the late Mac Miller.
