Fresh from the studios, Gucci Mane presents a new track, “TakeDat,” where he boldly echoes the phrase “No Diddy” 119 times. The song’s visuals subtly reference some scenes from a timeless music video, “Big Poppa,” by the late hip-hop icon, Notorious B.I.G.

‘No Diddy’ Becomes a Catchphrase

For those who might not be in the loop, the phrase ‘No Diddy’ has gathered momentum in recent times, becoming a catchphrase after a flurry of legal cases and accusations leveled against the founder of Bad Boy Records. The phrase gained more traction following a high-profile lawsuit filed by Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr. The suit accused Diddy of sexual assault and “grooming,” amongst other allegations.

“Diddy has denied all allegations, alleging in a previously released statement through attorney Shawn Holley that Jones was ‘nothing more than a liar who filed a $30 million lawsuit shamelessly looking for an undeserved payday.'”

Gucci Mane’s TakeDat

In the new track “TakeDat,” Gucci Mane, also known as Guwop, cleverly incorporates “No Diddy” at the end of almost every line in the song. The first verse showcases Gucci bragging about his spending habits, remarking he’s “spending money like a trick, no Diddy.

Aside from this, Gucci makes it clear that he’s the “CEO in the video” but he “ain’t dancin’ like a ho, no Diddy.” Later in the track, he brings up rumors relating to a supposed car explosion mentioned in Cassie’s lawsuit against Diddy, which has since been settled.

The Visuals for “TakeDat”

The visuals for “TakeDat,” directed by Omar the Director, witness Gucci and his crew recreating a particularly memorable scene from Biggie’s “Big Poppa” music video. This iconic video, which hit the screens back in 1994, is attributed to the collaborative efforts of Hype Williams and Diddy.
