Kodak Black joins Doechii for “What It Is”

In recent years, Doechii has broken into the music industry with hit singles such as “Persuasive” and “Crazy” following the announcement by Top Dawg Entertainment that she is now part of their roster as the newest artist. In addition, she then followed up those efforts by dropping the highly anticipated she / her / black b**ch EP. Among the tracks on this EP are collaborations with Jst Ray, Rico Nasty, and SZA, who collaborated on the highly anticipated remix of the song “Persuasive.”

In a press release issued today (March 17), the Tampa-raised artist Doechii announced the release of her new single, “What It Is,” as well as recruiting her fellow Florida artist Kodak Black to assist her on the track. The track has been produced by the acclaimed hitmaker J. White Did It. A prominent feature of the song is Doechii’s interpolation of Trillville iconic “Some Cut” from the opening:

Furthermore, the rapper was also featured on recent collaborations including “Pro Freak” by Smino, “Xtasy (Remix)” by Ravyn Lenae, “Girls Night Out” by Babyface, and more.

The most recent collection of Kodak’s works is 2022’s Kutthroat Bill: Vol. 1, which consists of 19 tracks with guest appearances from NFL Tuewop, Prince Swanny, Lil Crix and VVSNCE. Earlier that year, he released a self-titled album, which was characterized by the viral hit song “Super Gremlin.”
