There is no doubt in my mind that Lil Yachty is not going to take any breaks any time soon in 2023. Today (April 7), the Atlanta star shares the video for his new single titled “Strike (Holster),” produced by Teddy Walton and Aaron Bow. One of the features that make this track almost reminiscent of the viral track “Poland” is the use of strong sonic vibrato throughout the song. It’s the perfect track for warmer weather if you add in boastful lyrics about drugs, money, and women, which will make you smile.
“Strike (Holster)” comes after Lil Yachty released his fifth studio album, Let’s Start Here, which was a project that drew a lot of interest mainly because Yachty took a break from his usual rapping style. With an emphasis on experimental genres like psychedelic and funk, Let’s Start Here brought together 14 songs with a wide range of artists providing assistance, including Nick Hakim, Diana Gordon, Teezo Touchdown, Fousheé, Baby K, Justine Skye, Ant Clemons, Justin Raisen, Daniel Caesar, and more. The album drew critical acclaim for Yachty’s avant-garde approach, but it was also helped by the fact that 36,000 album-equivalent units sold during its first week of release allowed it to appear in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
It has been confirmed that Lil Yachty has been invited to make appearances at a number of festivals in the upcoming months, which are scheduled to include Outside Lands, Wireless, and Lollapalooza, Something In The Water, and THING.
