Professor calls police on Black student for refusing to apologize

On Tuesday, December 13, police were called to Winston-Salem State University after a white professor allegedly called them on a black student who refused to apologize. The outlet reports that the student, who has not been identified, was approached by the professor after class and asked why she had not apologized for an incident that had occurred earlier in the semester. When the Black student refused to apologize, the professor reportedly called the police. The student was eventually taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct.

The incident is currently under investigation by the university. This incident comes at a time when tensions are high on college campuses across the country, with many Black student feeling unsafe and uncomfortable in their learning environment. It is important for universities to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of race or ethnicity.

This incident comes amid a string of reports of racial bias on college campuses across the country. Just last week, a Black student at the University of Connecticut was reportedly racially profiled by police after someone called 911 to report “an unarmed black male” with a backpack walking around campus.

It is unclear if they have been released from custody at this time. This story is still developing and more information will be added as it becomes available.
