Queens-bred rising rhymer best known as Ruga Reiq, is back for his raved return with his most recent release “My B“! Since a youngin’, Ruga has developed a passion for music after being exposed to the music industry at a young age. His mother Dina Smith (Strawberry), was involved in the industry and worked with well known top talent such as as: LL Cool J. Because of this, music has always been a life line.
Wanting to pursue his passion professionally, Ruga Reiq went on to record his first record at the age of 14 with only a mic and a dell computer. Since then, he has recorded hundreds of releases. His hard-edged, dynamic mood, which can be heard in several of his compositions, stems from his harsh upbringing in Queens’ neighborhoods. Throughout his teenage years, he and his mother moved from one neighborhood to another, never leaving Queens though.
Although he resided with his mother in Southside Jamaica, Queens, he spent time and attended school in Laurelton Queens, where his grandmother lived. This is where Ruga Reiq was invented. At the age of 16, he had his first child, Layla. As a result, it added another motivator for him to work harder on his dream of becoming a successful artist. He had his second child, Isabel, in 2016, and let’s just say that since then, he has really come into his own with his art and ability for music.
Remaining a force to be reckoned with, Ruga is not only a lyricist, but a vocalist as well. This triple threat, singer-songwriter and rapper is well rounded and can move the musical masses! In 2018, Ruga dropped his debut mixtape, Thug Passion. The popular project received positive praise as it was built beautifully between trap and soul vibes! Now, the trendy talent is ready to takeover 2024 with his latest offering, “My B“.
