“Let Me Be Great” by Sampa The Great features a new animated visual.

As Above, So Below is the second album by Sampa The Great, which was released last month. On the 11-track album, guest appearances were made by Kojey Radical, Denzel Curry, Joey Bada$$, James Sakala, WITCH, among others. “Never Forget” from this project was also selected as the official theme music for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer.

It was revealed yesterday (Oct. 25) that the Zambian poet and rapper had released the official music video for the song “Let Me Be Great.” Angélique Kidjo contributes vocals to the song that serves as an outro for As Above, So Below. Introducing a video directed by Pussykrew, produced by Coleman Creative Agency’s Kiley Coleman, and creatively directed by Rha Nembhard. In the video, lyrics are brought to life with the aid of an animated CGI world:

An interview with Sampa provided insight into why she believes it is appropriate to use African history in her lyrics. “ Often, we do not pay attention to the stories of those who have created things, or we fail to acknowledge the stories of ourselves since they are usually rewritten for us. “African histories are often destroyed,” she stated.
